So here we are. May 27th. 19 days before Thank Me Later drops. And here I am starring at two new leaks from the album. As I see "Fireworks" featuring Alicia Keys and "Light Up" featuring Jay-Z, I can't help but feel my stomach slightly drop. Why? Because here we are, May 27th, 19 days before T.M.L. drops, and half the album is released to the general public about two weeks ahead of it's official release date! I worry for Drake and his team because these leaks will help determine whether the album sells or not. Because of my anticipation for the album, I refuse to listen to anymore leaks until June 15th. I've already heard "Over", "Shut It Down", "Find Your Love", and "Miss Me" and in my opinion, I've heard too much of the album already.
I know this album was meant to be heard in an entirety, not in random, miscellaneous pieces. I'm wondering if these leaks will take away from the magic or surprise of the album. It's almost like finding your presents a week before christmas! Are the presents as exciting and valued when you find them before the right time? I don't think so. And that's what I'm afraid of.
